Few flowers deliver color quite like Thomas Edison Dahlia! Its enormous 6–8-inch blooms feature layer upon layer of velvety purple petals, with color that deepens toward nearly black at the center. The result is a rich, dramatic flower that stands out in any summer garden.

Thomas Edison belongs to the informal decorative class of dahlias, producing large, fully double flowers with a lush, slightly irregular arrangement of petals. The deep purple coloring is especially striking when planted alongside white, yellow or pale pink flowers. Add it to a sunny border or cutting garden for a bold display of color.

These beautiful blooms are made for sharing, too. Long, sturdy stems make Thomas Edison an excellent cut flower, whether you're creating a colorful mixed bouquet or filling a vase with its rich purple blossoms. With flowers appearing from midsummer into fall, there's plenty of time to enjoy them both indoors and out.

Vigorous plants and a generous bloom season make Thomas Edison a rewarding choice for dahlia lovers. If you're looking for big flowers with unforgettable color, this classic purple variety deserves a place in your garden.
